Belarus-Brazil strengthen cooperation
Belarus confirms its role as a supplier of potash fertilizers, while Brazil plans to increase imports and localize agricultural machinery production.
Belarus is one of the world leaders in the production of potash fertilizers, and Brazil is a major consumer. The South American country plans to increase imports and is ready to localize the production of Belarusian agricultural machinery on its territory.
Brazil's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Belarus, Bernard Klingl, emphasized:
"Brazil does not support any sanctions against Belarus. For us, any sanctions not approved by the UN are illegitimate. As you know, Brazil is a major food producer. Sanctions pose a threat to global food security. Fortunately, we have managed to find solutions to overcome certain difficulties, and I can proudly say that our bilateral cooperation indicators are better than they were before my arrival."
Context
Agricultural cooperation between Belarus and Brazil has developed in recent years, and both countries view further expansion of partnership as a key aspect of their foreign economic strategies.
Belarus and Brazil are strengthening economic ties by increasing potassium fertilizer supplies and jointly developing agricultural machinery, while Brazil refuses to support Western sanctions against Belarus.
