Belarus supports China on Taiwan

Minsk. Belarusian Foreign Minister Ruslan Varankou stated that Belarus "supports all efforts by the Chinese government to achieve national reunification and to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Taiwan." Varankou noted that no state has the right to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. "Such actions could lead to an escalation of tensions and destabilize the balance in the Asia-Pacific region," he added, emphasizing the importance of maintaining international security.

Context

The situation in Taiwan dates back to the conflict between China and Taiwan in 1949. China continues to regard the island as part of its territory, leading to regional tensions.
