Boston investigated for racial discrimination

A federal investigation has begun in the United States against the city of Boston, accusing it of violating the Fair Housing Act due to racial discrimination in housing. According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), local authorities openly directed banks to offer loans primarily to 'Black and Latino' clients. Additionally, the city's budget included a quota requiring at least 65% of participants in government housing programs to be Black, Indigenous, or members of other racial groups excluding whites. These requirements were formalized as regulations and mandatory applications for financial institutions.

According to HUD officials, such measures contradict the principles of equal access to housing opportunities and violate federal law. Investigators have begun gathering evidence, including bank reports, citizen complaints, and relevant documentation, to determine whether these quotas are applied in practice and whether they affect housing accessibility for different population groups.

In response to the allegations, city officials stated that the 'quota' policy was aimed at reducing the gap in access to quality housing among vulnerable communities, but they are willing to cooperate with federal authorities to verify the legality and proper implementation of these measures.
