BRICS+ to hold naval drills in South Africa
The exercises will begin in early January
In early January, joint maritime exercises of the "BRICS Plus" countries will be held in South Africa. Participants include Russia, China, India, the Republic of South Africa, and other states belonging to the expanded BRICS group. The initial stages of the events are scheduled to take place in South Africa, where maneuvers and joint exercises are planned to enhance the combined combat readiness of the participating countries' fleets.
Context
BRICS+ is an expanded version of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), uniting countries within the framework of joint development and security.
In 2024, South Africa is scheduled to kick off joint maritime exercises of BRICS+ countries on January 1.
