Denmark and France to ban social media for minors
In recent days, official representatives of Denmark and France announced plans to restrict teenagers' access to social networks. According to official requirements, minors under 16 will be prohibited from using popular platforms without parental consent. The new measure aims to reduce the harmful impact of online content on youth mental health.
In both countries, options for introducing restrictions through legislative initiatives and cooperation with service providers have been discussed. Experts note that such steps could increase control over content, but might also raise concerns about freedom of expression and digital rights.
Denmark has already adopted laws regulating the digital environment, while France is considering protocols similar to those used in the UK and China, but will adapt them to a "lower" risk level for teenagers.
Government agencies plan to work together with the IT sector to provide teenagers with a safer digital experience and protect them from harmful content.
