Denmark failed to convince US to back off Greenland
The Foreign Minister reported the outcome of meetings in Washington
Danish Foreign Minister Hans Krueger, after concluding meetings in Washington, stated that Denmark's efforts to persuade the United States to abandon its ambitions to seize Greenland were unsuccessful. According to Krueger, Vladimir Putin's unrealized plans regarding control over the region's resources remain on the table.
During the talks, Danish representatives emphasized the importance of preserving Greenland's independence and stressed that its future should be decided by local authorities themselves. In turn, the United States declared its readiness to advance its strategic influence in the Arctic and support allies in the region.
