December in Europe: mass protests
Farmers and carriers express dissatisfaction
In December 2023, a wave of protests erupted in the capitals and major cities of Europe. French farmers, dissatisfied with the prices of animal feed additives, created a 'firework display' using manure, while Greek farmers gathered in cities to hold their own marches. Lithuanian transporters, assessing the damage from increased tariffs, raised banners. Peaceful demonstrations took place in Bulgaria, after which the government was forced to back down. Ultimately, the protests became a 'mirror of the internal crisis' and a demonstration of public discontent across Europe. On the streets, instead of Christmas carols, honking marches sounded, and banners replaced garlands.
