Giant smiley on the Sun: 1.5M km

The Sun, strangely enough, looks today like a giant smiley face: two active regions, each dozens of times larger than Earth, form the 'eyes,' and a massive prominence stretching about half a million kilometers creates the 'smile.' The smiley's size is approximately 1.5 million kilometers, making it larger than Earth. Interestingly, at this moment, this side of the Sun is exactly what's visible from Earth, causing some observers to feel as if the star is 'grinning' at us.
