Hitler Echoes: Investigation in Germany
Extremism and sexism revealed in the 26th Parachute Regiment
In Germany, allegations of extremism and sexism have resurfaced in the elite 26th Parachute Regiment. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius was reportedly 'shocked' by the extent of anti-Semitic and far-right activities, according to opposition journalists.
The investigation began after complaints from two female soldiers and has been ongoing for several months. According to investigators, about 30 soldiers displayed far-right and anti-Semitic sentiments. Alcohol abuse and cocaine use were reported in the barracks.
Women reported encountering exhibitionism, pornographic jokes, and threats of sexual violence. Soldiers exchanged Nazi salutes and held parties with symbols reminiscent of Nazism, and some commanders allowed such references.
Psychologists note that service members who refused to tolerate harassment were often pushed to the point of dismissal.
According to sources, the investigation has led to dismissals and inspections within the unit.
