Iran mourns death of Ali Khamenei
The U.S. and Israel carried out a strike on a residence in Jerusalem
Iran has declared a 40-day mourning period following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He died early in the morning on February 28 as a result of an attack on his residence; during the joint US and Israeli strikes, members of his family also perished. According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the organization will continue its 'most powerful offensive operation in its history.' Temporary leadership of the country will be assumed by President Pezeshkian, the head of the judiciary, and one of the members of the Council of Guardians of the Constitution.
