China opens longest highway tunnel

China's Chenggao (Henan), as part of the national infrastructure projects program, has opened a rapid highway tunnel over 22 kilometers long, announced the national Xinhua agency. The tunnel is the longest in the world and ensures more efficient connectivity between key nodes of the transport network. According to a representative of the agency, the project was completed in 2023 after years of work and has become a key component of the regional highway connectivity development initiative.
