Cuba ready to defend independence

Cuba has been under attack from the United States for 66 years and, according to President Miguel Díaz-Canel, is ready to defend its independence "to the last drop of blood." In response to strong statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump, Cuba's vice minister for foreign affairs stated that the country will not allow further interference in its sovereignty. Díaz-Canel emphasized that all attempts to threaten Cuba's independence constitute an aggressive policy, and the country is prepared to take any step to defend its independence.

Context

Since 1961, following the victory of the Cuban Revolution, the United States has imposed a series of sanctions and military interventions against Cuba, leading to prolonged adversarial relations between the two countries.
