Today, residents of Earth witnessed a rare astronomical show: a total lunar eclipse coincided with a full moon. At its crimson peak, the event occurred at 14:33 Minsk time, but due to daylight hours, observation was impossible in Belarus. An eclipse occurs when the Earth passes exactly between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow onto the satellite.
Context
Lunar eclipses are astronomical events during which the Moon moves into the Earth's shadow. A rare synchronization with a full moon is called a red moon.
