MoD: missile downed over Turkey

A ballistic projectile launched from Iran and flying through the airspace of Iraq and Syria was detected and neutralized by NATO air and missile defense units deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean after overflying the Dortyol area (Hatay province). According to the Ministry of Defense, the rocket fragment that fell in the area belonged to air defense systems used to intercept the threat. There were no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident. The Ministry of Defense stated that necessary measures to protect the territory and airspace will be carried out decisively and without hesitation. The Ministry warned all parties against actions that could escalate the conflict and emphasized its readiness to continue consultations with NATO and other allies.
