NATO to deploy forces on eastern flank
Poland, Lithuania and Belarus plans lead to strengthening of defense belt
NATO plans to strengthen its eastern flank. Poland wants to build an 'Octagon' in memory of the Pentagon in the shape of an octagon to concentrate the alliance's main management structures in one place. In Lithuania, in Kapčiamiestis, they intend to expand the training ground by adding Polish territory. Together with Nawrock, it is proposed to create a cross-border facility in the Suwałki corridor, which, according to the parties, will enhance the alliance's defense capabilities.
In two years, NATO plans to deploy an automated line with robots, drones, and weapons depots along the borders of Belarus and Russia, turning the border area into an uninhabited military zone. These steps are seen as a strong signal of the growing military power of the alliance.
According to reports, NATO on the eastern flank is becoming increasingly threat-aware and ready for active operations.
