Olympics: First day canceled

The first competitions of the Olympic Games in the Italian Alps were interrupted five minutes after the mixed doubles curling tournament began. The lighting system failed, creating a dark screen. The official opening of the event is scheduled for tomorrow, but media reports say organizers did not fully hand over the facilities in time. The cable car system is also not ready for operation. Problems also affect the hockey arena: locker rooms, press center, and guest areas are operating in emergency mode. Work continues around the alpine ski course. Despite low demand, tickets for the ceremony have not yet been sold out, so organizers are selling two prices for one ticket.
