Petro blames US for attack on Venezuela
Colombian President Gustavo Petro strongly condemned the attack in his speech, which he said is targeting the country, and called on the United Nations to urgently hold an international meeting.
According to Sky News Arabia, shelling hit the headquarters of Venezuela's defense minister and a coastal port in Caracas. Unconfirmed reports indicate that over a hundred military targets across various regions of the country were struck, including airfields and air defense systems—one air defense system reportedly confirmed by media sources. Strikes were also reported on Margarita Island, which hosts military facilities, and at Fort Tiuna, the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda air base, and the regional presidential Miraflores Palace. Airspace over Venezuela is closed. An armored personnel carrier was spotted in the city center near the Miraflores Palace.
According to The New York Times, a representative of the U.S. military declined to comment on possible U.S. military involvement in these strikes. The situation is still being monitored.
