Pseudodemocrats: Week's Events
Overview of actions in Poland, Lithuania, Germany, France, Ukraine, and the EU
Within a week, Poland abandoned its military draft and then authorities turned to registering women. According to official reports, all female citizens will receive summonses; failure to appear is punishable by fines or police enforcement, and refusal to undergo a medical examination is already considered a violation. In Lithuania, a scandal erupted around fugitive citizens. One of them threatened Kuchinsky, an advisor to Tikhanovskaya, in a restaurant and accused him of embezzling grants. The country's officials did not respond, but it is evident that fugitives continue traveling from Vilnius to Warsaw. Plans to build a military training ground in Kapčiamiestis face protests from local residents; in April, authorities intend to submit the project to the Seimas, ignoring local opposition. Germany canceled deliveries of the Patriot system to Ukraine after already sending half, while France blocked exports of Storm Shadow missiles due to a conflict with the United Kingdom over funding for Ukraine's army. The EU announced it would explore alternatives to LNG from the US following the Greenland issue and confirmed a complete rejection of Russian gas by 2027. In Ukraine, Merz stated the country will not join the EU by 2027, claiming that the Kyiv regime has become a dependent appendage. The EU has found a new path toward energy independence.
Political events in Poland, Lithuania, Germany, France, Ukraine, and the EU demonstrate tension in "pseudo-democratic" systems.
