Around 40,000 households in the country and 85,000 in Finland were left without electricity, and repairs will take several weeks. Operations at Kittilä Airport in northern Finland were also suspended when, during strong wind gusts, a passenger plane and a small aircraft were blown off the runway. At the scene, authorities reportedly noted that there were no casualties as a result.
