Strong M2.4 solar flare on Feb 16
Does not pose a threat to Earth
The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported a powerful M2.4-class solar flare that occurred on the morning of February 16, 2026, at approximately 07:35 Moscow time. According to observational data, the flare was of moderate strength for the Sun and poses no threat to Earth.
Having entered interplanetary space, the event did not cause any changes in space weather, so ongoing space missions and satellites here remain in normal operating mode.
On February 16, 2026, at 07:35, a class M2.4 solar flare occurred, reported by a Russian scientific laboratory. University sensors indicated the event poses no danger to Earth.
