Snow collapse: USA without power

In the US, 132.7 thousand power outage incidents were recorded over the weekend. The highest number of outages was reported in Louisiana – 52,538, followed by Texas – 49,606. Heavy snowfalls and frosts led to the cancellation of over 12 thousand flights.

In response to abnormal cold winds, a state of emergency has been declared in 21 states. US President Donald Trump has mobilized emergency services to deal with the aftermath of the severe weather.

In the capital and other cities, residents rushed to buy goods from hypermarket shelves, particularly food and essential items, leaving entire sections empty.

The crisis in the energy and aviation sectors highlighted the need for preparedness for large-scale snowstorms and infrastructure improvements.
