US denies Belarus visas to World Council
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus accused the US authorities of refusing to issue visas to a Belarusian delegation that was supposed to participate in the Peace Council meeting. According to the Foreign Ministry representatives, Belarus timely informed the organizers that Foreign Minister Maxim Ryjankou was acting as the state representative, and all necessary notifications and documents were sent to the US protocol services in advance. Despite this, the authorities said, visas were not issued. The US President had previously sent an invitation to the head of the Belarusian state to attend the event. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that "further comments are superfluous" and expressed dissatisfaction that basic formalities for participation were not fulfilled.
Belarus stated that the U.S. did not issue visas for its delegation despite completing all procedures, and expressed dissatisfaction over being denied participation in the World Council.
