US to demand social media data from tourists

According to NBC, American authorities may begin 2024 by requiring tourists arriving in the country to provide data from their social media accounts for the past five years upon entry. The U.S. Border Patrol is also considering a policy whereby tourists will be required to report email addresses and phone numbers they used over the past five years, as well as contact information for family members. These measures are intended to strengthen control over migration flows and security protocols.
These requirements will apply to tourists regardless of whether they are visiting the U.S. on a tourist visa or as a visa-waiver program visitor.
US authorities may require tourists to provide 5-year social media, email, and phone data upon entry.
