Death of ayatollah, family injuries, international statements

A 40-day mourning period has been declared in Iran for Omirsha Khamenei, ayatollah and former supreme leader of the country, according to state television. The Fars agency and CBS News report that four members of the leader's family—his daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and one daughter-in-law—along with around 40 Iranian officials, were killed in attacks from Israel and the United States. In response to the incident, American diplomat Givot announced the cancellation of a visit to Israel scheduled for early March. Iran has declared the coming week non-working, and the council of ayatollahs will soon determine the country's new spiritual leader.
