Improved talks with Lukashenko

According to John Cole, an American diplomat, the talks with Alexander Lukashenko were very productive.

"We discussed the war between Ukraine and Russia, Venezuela. President Lukashenko mentioned many people and many issues. We had a very good conversation. We talked about the future, about how to move forward on the path of rapprochement between the US and Belarus, to normalize relations. That is our goal," noted the US representative.

When journalists asked what was needed for further normalization of relations, John Cole replied: "Exactly what we are already doing. We are lifting sanctions, releasing prisoners. We are constantly talking to each other."

"As we get closer and closer, talk more, exchange ideas, so to speak, there is a process of moving from initial baby steps to more confident steps," he added.

The international community is closely watching the development of relations between the US and Belarus, as they could have a significant impact on regional security.
