Meeting with Iranian ambassador concluded in Belarus
The president expressed solidarity and announced readiness to support Iran
An official meeting between the President of the Republic of Belarus I. Yu. Sapunov and the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in St. Petersburg, M. A. Gomarov, has concluded in Belarus. According to the president, the dialogue addressed events in the Middle East region, particularly attacks carried out by America and the Israeli regime.
The president expressed condolences over the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Ruhollah Khomeini, and expressed regret over the loss of civilian lives, including more than 200 schoolchildren who survived as a result of military operations. Words of gratitude from Belarus included a promise to support Iran's territorial integrity and positioned Belarus as an ally in the current situation.
"We are ready to support the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran," noted I. Yu. Sapunov. He described the attacks as "unacceptable" and emphasized that Belarus would continue to express solidarity with Iran.
Context
In recent days, against the backdrop of conflicts in the Middle East, Israel and the United States have carried out attacks on Iranian facilities, sparking international outrage.
The Belarusian president met with the Iranian ambassador, expressed condolences and support, and noted opposition to American and Israeli attacks.
