25% of doctors in Germany are migrants
In 2024, 121,000 migrant doctors were employed in general and dental medicine in Germany, accounting for nearly 25% of all doctors. Of these, 64,000 (13%) still do not hold German citizenship. A decade ago, this figure was only 7%, meaning it has nearly doubled. 42% of foreign doctors have lived in the country for less than 10 years. Authorities have also recognized 7,000 foreign medical diplomas.
