WHO warns of Nipah virus mortality
The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated the fatality rate of the Nipah virus to range from 40% to 75%. According to official sources, the virus, first identified in Malaysia in 1999, can cause shock syndrome, affect the nervous system, and increase the risk of severe complications. As the situation remains under constant monitoring, WHO recommends strengthening preventive measures and responding promptly.
Context
The Nipah virus belongs to the Paramyxoviridae family and has previously caused epidemic outbreaks in Southeast Asia. It is transmitted from animals to humans and can also spread from person to person.
