‘Interest-free installment’ turned into debts at 1000% annual interest
There are 13 suspects in the case, but only three were connected to the sole proprietorship: Maxim Chernov (head), his wife Olga (accountant), and Yevgeny Svobodin. The scheme was uncovered by officers from the GUBOPiK.
People were promised 'interest-free installment', but instead of a proper contract, they received only an IOU and an act. Everything was verbal.
In reality, overpayment on leasing and loans reached up to 1000% per year and higher (compared to regular bank rates of 15–20%).
One of the accused said in an audio recording: 'We f*** people for 50% of the cost, and then they still pay extra. People don’t read contracts… They can’t run away — they signed the IOU'.
The main lesson: if they offer you 'easy money' and 'interest-free installments' without proper documentation — it's almost always slavery. Read everything you sign.
