Foreign Cards Tested in Belarus
Community-reported results on foreign debit and credit cards used in Belarus. The situation is fluid — reports may become outdated. Always carry cash as backup.
These are user-submitted reports, not official guidance. Card acceptance depends on the Belarusian merchant's acquiring bank, your issuing bank's policy, and the payment network. Since 2022, foreign Visa and Mastercard work inconsistently — functioning at some terminals (connected to non-sanctioned acquirers) but not others. Mir and UnionPay are the most reliable networks today.
Wise Debit
Wise (formerly TransferWise)
Explicitly blocked by Wise due to EU sanctions. Neither physical nor virtual card works in Belarus — no ATM withdrawals, no POS payments.
Revolut

Reported not working as of July 2025.
Hype
Banca Sella / Hype
Does not work in Belarus — card payments, ATM withdrawals and online banking all fail. Hype switched to Visa in June 2024 (previously Mastercard), but Belarus remains unsupported.
Starling
Starling Bank
Not on Starling's blocked-country list, but foreign Mastercard cards work inconsistently in Belarus post-2022. May work at terminals connected to non-sanctioned acquirers, but unreliable — always carry cash.
Monzo
Monzo Bank
Not explicitly blocked by Monzo, but community reports confirm it stopped working in Belarus after 2022. Foreign Mastercard acceptance is inconsistent — depends on the Belarusian merchant's acquiring bank.
