12,000-year-old human remains found in Far East

Scientists made a sensational discovery while studying the entrance area of a cave.

"The most valuable find was a fragment of a human lower jaw with two preserved teeth," representatives of the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Peoples of the Far East, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, reported.

Artifacts from the same period were also found in the cave. Of particular interest were green obsidian artifacts — the nearest sources of this material are located about 250 kilometers from the cave.

Previously, the oldest materials in the region were considered to be 6,500 years old.
