50-year-old miner killed in collapse at Belaruskalii mine

A 50-year-old miner died at the Belaruskalii potash mine following a collapse during construction work on a reinforced concrete partition at the 620-meter level of Mine No. 3 on the evening of June 11. Two others were injured: a 34-year-old tractor operator sustained serious injuries, and an 18-year-old college student on training practice suffered leg injuries. Both were hospitalized. A detective team, together with specialists from the State Forensic Examination Committee, inspected the site, documented evidence, interviewed witnesses, and ordered expert analyses. Relevant documentation, including safety and labor protection records, was seized. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2, Article 303 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (violation of mining or construction safety regulations resulting in death by negligence). Investigative actions are ongoing to determine all circumstances, causes, and contributing factors.
