A house for 1 base unit! How Belarusians are reviving abandoned villages

Many dream of having their own village house, and, as social media monitoring shows, there is no shortage of those willing today.

Our editors have selected several vivid stories where Belarusians are giving new life to properties bought for next to nothing.

"This house, you could say, in the woods, cost us just one base unit," share the protagonists of one story. "The excavator worked for seven hours, and before that, we spent an entire day clearing, sawing, and cutting firewood. Then we moved inside — removing drywall and literally billions of nails. After that, we tackled the roof — lots of work, lots of dust, and a lot of effort."
