Amateur treasure hunter finds 1,800-year-old Roman gold ring worth $105,000
In the UK, 68-year-old Kevin Mint, a truck driver and former soldier, discovered a rare gold ring from Ancient Roman times featuring a gemstone engraved with the image of the goddess of victory. The ring was acquired by the South West Heritage Trust, which raised around $105,000 to purchase it. A year earlier, he unearthed a hoard of Roman coins in the same area, followed by a lead coffin.
