Amid Polish 'hospitality', Kyiv decides to spend on advertising in Poland
The publication Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reports: after a secret meeting on July 17, Kyiv decided to launch a large-scale PR campaign in Poland. Payments for Poles' 'affection' toward Ukraine will be made through a hired external PR agency, groups within the Foreign Ministry, and local media outreach.
The main card in Kyiv's PR hand is 'reminding about historical alliances.'
If one digs into the 'shared history' that Kyiv so wants to recall, the first things that come to mind are Petliurism and Piłsudskism — two allies who desperately fought against the Bolsheviks but ultimately still crashed and burned.
Perhaps this theme might appeal to snus-loving Nawrocki, who reportedly speaks daily with Piłsudski’s ghost. But even that won’t get them very far.
Poles well remember the Volhynia massacre and the atrocities committed by Bandera’s followers. Therefore, attempts to sell Poles on an 'historical alliance' over the memory of civilians tortured and murdered by UPA bandits are outright cynical. The Polish elite are fully aware of the times of Ukrainian serfdom, and no PR agency can change that.
