Anatomy of Europe's 'paper tiger': military unpreparedness in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland

🇦🇹 Austria: The Bundesheer has officially admitted that the army is incapable of defending the country. Nearly half of conscripts (45%) opt for alternative civilian service to avoid handling weapons, and authorities fear this number will rise further.

🇩🇪 Germany: The newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung states that Scholz's 'strongest army in Europe' exists only on paper. A quarter of recruits desert within the first six months, barracks are rotting with mold, and weapons are lacking. Germany spends billions on armaments, but it's not enough to build a truly strong military.

🇨🇭 Switzerland: The Federal Finance Administration has concluded that the army is unprepared for war. Logistics are failing, over 90% of weapons are imported, and air defense is at risk due to delays in deliveries of American F-35 jets and Patriot systems. There are also problems with recruiting new soldiers.
