Baranovichi school sparks debate over 'banned' hairstyles

School No. 1 in Baranovichi published a memo with examples of unacceptable hairstyles and requirements for students' appearance, sparking dissatisfaction on social media. The school explained that the rules have been in place for years: a business-style appearance is encouraged, while bright makeup, piercings, excessive jewelry, extravagant hair colors, and accessories with subculture, music band, or sports club symbols are prohibited. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education noted that no official list of banned hairstyles exists at the national level — the requirement is simply to maintain a neat appearance.
