Belarus Ensures Equal Tax Rules for Foreign Online Marketplaces
Belarus has implemented a uniform tax system for online trade, ensuring equal conditions for all market participants, including foreign online platforms operating in the country. According to Deputy Minister of Taxes and Duties Svetlana Yeskova, ten foreign marketplaces are currently registered in Belarus. All sales made to individuals through these foreign platforms are subject to value-added tax (VAT) on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. This measure aims to level the playing field between domestic and foreign online businesses and strengthen the country's tax framework for e-commerce.
In recent years, Belarus has been modernizing its e-commerce regulations to adapt to growing cross-border online trade. The government's focus has been on preventing tax evasion and supporting local businesses by ensuring that foreign digital platforms comply with national tax laws.
