Belarus gradually removing countdown timers from traffic lights

As explained by the State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI), some drivers began accelerating in the last seconds of the green light, and pedestrians started crossing the road just before the signal changed. According to the agency, removing the timers should improve road safety.
