Belarus Leads Post-Soviet Countries in Electric Cars per Capita

Belarus has become the leader in the number of electric cars per capita among former USSR countries.

Over eight months of 2026, the country's electric car fleet grew from 50,000 to 65,000 vehicles. According to Energy Minister Denis Moroz, the growth rate demonstrates rapid industry development.

Authorities plan to increase the number of electric cars to 300,000 by 2030, which would account for about 10% of the total vehicle fleet, helping to improve the environment and reduce fuel import costs.
