Belarus to introduce mandatory hotel star classification
In Belarus, mandatory hotel classification by 'stars' will be introduced. Currently, obtaining a category under the five-star system is voluntary. After the changes, hotels will be required to meet specific standards. Even a one-star rating will require a basic set of amenities — water, internet, television, and other essential equipment. For some facilities, this may mean upgrades, and hotels failing to meet the requirements could face temporary closure.
