Belarus uncovers scheme to import over 100 electric vehicles, causing $7M in damage

A Belarusian company imported premium electric vehicles and hybrids from Li, Mazda, Nissan, Polar Stone, and other brands under the guise of personal use. The vehicles were registered to straw individuals and then resold through a company. Savings on customs payments and recycling fees amounted to 60–80 thousand rubles per vehicle. Over 40 vehicles worth about 7 million rubles have been seized to compensate for the damage. A criminal case has been opened; suspects face up to 6 years in prison.
