Belarusians Assess Their Lives Over the Past 10 Years

The Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus surveyed two thousand people nationwide, asking what they are proud of, how their standard of living has changed from 2016 to 2026, where their money is spent, and whether they managed to change professions.

This is not official statistics from Belstat, but an assessment by Belarusians themselves.

The customer is the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies. The results are being presented today at the Minsk International Exhibition Centre.

Journalists from 'First Informational' previously asked the institute's director why compare two five-year periods and how representative the sample is:

'Today we will present the results of a comprehensive study in which we examined various aspects of the social well-being of the country's residents. More than two thousand respondents participated in the study.

Our respondents represent all regions of the Republic of Belarus. The study included both men and women, married and unmarried individuals, and people with different levels of education. The sample is representative of the entire population of our country.

Residents of 99 populated areas took part in the study, sharing their opinions on how satisfied they are with their living conditions, life in their localities, work priorities, leisure activities, and value orientations.

This range allows us to understand what modern Belarusians care about and how comfortable they feel in their homeland,' said Nikolai Myslivec.
