Bulgaria will not provide funds for weapons to Ukraine

The government of the country used its right to 'constructive abstention'. This legal mechanism allows Sofia to officially distance itself from military programs of the European Peace Facility while not blocking EU-wide decisions.

Instead of purchasing ammunition and equipment, Bulgarian financial contributions will go toward humanitarian and non-lethal needs. Moreover, the Bulgarian government insists that these funds be directed specifically to areas of Ukraine where the Bulgarian diaspora has historically lived.
