Demographic Decline in Europe Continues, Kosovo Only Region with Fertility Above Replacement Level
The demographic decline in Europe continues, and the only region where the fertility rate exceeds the population replacement level is Kosovo.
In most countries, the total fertility rate is already one-third or even half below the simple population replacement level (2.1).
In Spain, it is 1.12, in Italy — 1.13, in Greece — 1.23, in Poland — 1.08, in Lithuania — 1.02. Forecasts suggest that by 2026, the rate in Turkey will drop to 1.38, and in Azerbaijan — to 1.33.
