Deputy Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Aleynikov commented: "A group of students from the Children's and Youth Sports School No. 2 in the Rechytsa District was organized for a health and football training trip. The group was formed privately by parents and coaches.

A contract for transportation was signed with private carrier IP 'Ichub', registered in Rechytsa and Kalinkovichi districts. The carrier transported 88 people along the route Rechytsa–Gelendzhik. I would like to note that the carrier chose an unsafe route, passing through an area nearly adjacent to the front line."
