Two years before the first dinosaur skeleton (Shen's Tyrannosaurus) was sold in Asia, Christie's sold another Tyrannosaurus nicknamed Stan for $31.8 million. Two years later, billionaire Ken Griffin bought a Stegosaurus nicknamed Apex for $44.6 million. Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicolas Cage, and other celebrities participated in the auctions.
