Ebola carriers from Congo and Uganda may reach Europe and Asia within a month — study

Japanese scientists have conducted large-scale modeling showing that Ebola carriers from Congo and Uganda have up to a 92% probability of reaching major airports in Europe and Asia within the next month. Countries at highest risk include Belgium (92%), France (91%), UAE (88%), and Turkey (86%). The main challenge in detecting the virus is its incubation period of up to 8 days, during which up to 65% of infected individuals may pass airport screening without showing symptoms. However, WHO and Russian virologists remain calm, noting no active cases in Europe and that the virus spreads only through direct contact with bodily fluids.
