EU fines Google $1 billion for breaching digital markets law

The European Commission has fined Google $1 billion for violating the Digital Markets Act. Regulators found the company promoted its own services, such as shopping and hotel bookings, at the expense of third parties and restricted developers from informing users about cheaper alternatives outside the Google Play store. This is Google's first fine under the new law.
