EU seeks way to bypass veto by dissenting members

Eleven EU countries have proposed making bloc decisions without unanimity, according to Politico. They want to replace veto power with qualified majority voting.

"We will continue to strive for consensus wherever possible. But we must also ensure that this consensus culture enables collective action rather than blocking it; otherwise, we will have legitimacy but no strength," the foreign ministers of these countries wrote in a letter to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
